REP - AAA/AA INFORMATION

Rep level baseball is designed for those players that are committed to the game. They should have above average baseball ability and a strong desire to excel at baseball.

AAA

As per the Memorandum of Understanding between SJP, SWEMBA and SEEBA, all players living in the SJP boundary that are interested in playing AAA level baseball do so through SEEBA Edmonton Expos.

This includes 13U, 15U, and 18U divisions.

If after SEEBA AAA tryouts the player is not selected for their AAA team, the player can then register and proceed with SJP AA tryouts.

For more information about SEEBA Edmonton Expos please visit their website at: http://www.edmontonexposbaseball.ca/

AA

11U AA

Generally, SJP is able to field two 11U AA teams. Team Black and Team Blue. These two teams are not parity and will play in separate tiers.

Time Commitment

Rep teams typically have two practices per week during weekdays and play 2-3 games on 2-3 weekends per month, depending on the Baseball Alberta schedule. Therefore, at a minimum expect to be at the diamond 4-5 days per week. Occasionally exhibition games or league games could be scheduled during the week, especially if there are rainouts. Rep teams are required to travel regularly outside of Edmonton to surrounding areas and throughout Alberta. Provincial Championships are either the last weekend of July or the first weekend of August depending on the tier played.

Financial Commitment

Player registration fees cover Baseball Alberta registration and insurance, jerseys, dry fit, ball caps, umpire fees, team photos, and two tournament entry fees. Rep teams will have their own budgets and may be required to cover additional expenses, which may include travel, additional tournaments, additional apparel or equipment, etc. Fundraising may be an activity teams choose to participate in, to impact player costs.

Tryout Process

Tryouts take place in March. It is best to attend all tryout sessions. The tryouts are under the directions of the SJP Technical Director and SJP Rep Director. The Head Coach may also become part of the selection process. The tryouts evaluate players physical skills, desire and discipline as well as other variables.

Volunteering

Parents are needed to volunteer for various positions on the team including head coach, assistant coach, off-field manager, scorekeeping, pitch counting, host weekend duties, etc. Assistance is needed at a club level during Casino years and Board Members are always needed and appreciated.
